If it’s early vintage ammo, in original boxes, that Winchester put out in 1895, they can command a premium. Especially in good condition, and sealed! IMO!

A lot of guys try to find the later stuff in older boxes, or even the early brass which was good to re load and shoot.

Don:those appear to be black powder, if not a full box you could pull the bullet, dump powder, deprime and load with smokeless.

I use 5 grains of unique or .70 4227….Bill

Bill,

Those are bullet components only.  In my opinion, they are collectible the way they sit and would not load them or shoot them.  If it were me, I would preserve them and the box as-is and hunt down more modern alternative bullets to load and shoot.  This box would be good to display with an old Winchester 1892.

I’d consider those a collector’s item. As they are original Winchester manufactured bullets. I don’t know the exact date on them but believe they’re from the 1920s, or at least before Olin bought Winchester in 1931 based on the labels.

Keeping them for a display was my first thought, but if experts said nobody would find them interesting I would load them for my 1892. I will keep them. Don

Yes, 60 grain Hollow point, metal patched Bullet bullets. Very collectable.

Like you said a very nice early display box/item.

I agree – a very nice collectable item to display.  I sure wouldn’t load them up.

Some additional info from Dan Shueys book for dating these bullets. I have included a photo of the bottom of the box, with the nos. 9 28. This could possibly date the DOM as per Shueys article.

Any further thoughts will be appreciated
