Question about .25-20 brass. Been having a tough time finding any available. What i have been hearing is that it is normally produced once a year. So my question is does anybody happen to know when that might be? I do have some .32-20 brass necked down to .25-20, but would like some with the correct head stamp. Thanks joe.

RP’s “once a year” has been pretty unreliable in recent years. I’m hoping Hornady or Starline will decide to produce it some day.

I might be able to help you, depending on how many you need. I am working out of town and will look when I get back. I know I have some somewhere, it’s just putting my hands on them….

Thanks Greg Let me know if you have some and how much you want for it. I just bought a Winchester 1892 and nothing right now to shoot in itFrown. Joe. I did locate some .32-20 from buffalo arms that has been necked down to .25-20. Just wanted some with the proper Head stamp on it.

Last month I bought 200 rounds of 25-20 from Midway. Pricey but I always try to keep some  on my shelf to feed my 1892.

I got some loaded .25-20 from cheaper than dirt last fall. It was remington, not terribly priced either

The “once a year” is more like “once every few years” when they get enough demand built up for it.  The only stuff I’ve seen in the past 5 years or so has been W-W and Remington.

My LGS has some for $75.00 for a box of 50. Pricey but may be the only way to go.

I have never had any problem finding either Remington or Winchester brand ammo in 25-20.  Typically at Bass Pro or an “above average” gun store here in Houston.  I might even have about 30 empty rounds but will have to do some digging.  I would love to add your rifle into my survey if possible.   https://winchestercollector.org/forum/winchester-research-survey-discussion/winchester-model-1892-all-rifle-survey/

Thanks

There is a company here in Commifornia called Load-X.    Here is the link…..http://www.loadxammo.com/

They carry 25-20 and a lot of other out of the norm calibers (45-60, 40-82, 38-56, etc.).  I believe he uses  starline brass.  Steve is the owners name is a good guy.  Prices are very reasonable.

Thanks, i’ll give him a call on Monday. He closed at noon on Friday. However i think when i was in my LSG this week asking about .25-20 Brass he made a phone call for me to someone he knows in California, and i think he said his name was Steve. So it’s possible it could be the same guy. Anyway the guy he called was also out of .25-20.

Wincacher, i did check into ammo seek, but being in NY most places won’t send ammo to NY. Anyway i can buy .25-20 locally it’s just pretty expensive.

Yep knew about your survey, Mike. Haven’t received the gun yet, But here is the serial number, 616341. made in 1911. pretty much just a shooter grade not going to be of interest to collectors. Decent wood no cracks, no bluing on the receiver. The bore, they rated as good with full rifling. Got my fingers crossed on the bore condition. No pitting or rust on the barrel. Thanks in my search this week i think i did check Bass pro, and Cabals. Anyway if you do have some Brass as i posted to Greg i’m more than willing to purchase what ever you are willing to let go. Joe.

Joe,

I have the rifle listed already and saw it in the June 2017 RIA auction and then on Gunbroker out of Minot, ND.  The rear sight is not original and you will want to find a correct one.

Yep, knew about the rear sight. But no problem cause i have a Vintage Marbles Tang sight (W1 marked) patent date 1905. I’m just going to remove the rear sight. Can’t see good enough using iron sights anyway. I kinda figured you had it listed since it was on Gunbroker. Thanks joe
