I’ve heard 1953 and 1955. Help.

According to Ken Waters and my Hornady manual Winchester introduced it in 1955. I have little doubt it existed as a wildcat before that date.

Thanks Mike. My old “1965” Cartridges of the World and my P O Ackley book says the same.

You may need to move a little east. It is very quiet here.

Why east? When I’m looking for a little peace & quiet I generally head north & west to Raton. Matter of fact the neighbor’s kid on a 4-wheeler is making Raton sound pretty good right now.Frown

The .243 Win. was authorized on Feb. 17, 1955.

If you can’t convince them, confuse them

Thanks Ted.

Mike, I have been to many shoots at the Whittington Center. A beautiful place! You might try one of their remote cabins.

I’m not too far east of you in Poetry. I like seeing deer in the yard daily.

I generally stay in one of the Founders’ Retreat cabins. I started shooting there when there was only one, the Brownell’s cabin. Some down time at the moment, may head up there if something doesn’t break loose pretty quick. :-/

I actually know where Poetry is, I suppose it’s one of the next towns to get swallowed up by the Metromess. Enjoy those deer in the yard while you can!

Mike, I doubt Poetry will be invaded before I go to the happy hunting grounds. Do you keep up with the Texas Shooting Team, particularly the Jr and SR service rifle teams?
