Frustrating. I’ve seen this advertised on several sites.
1977 Winchester 94 Limited Edition I 30-30 Win 20″ *1 OF ONLY 1,500 MADE!

The problem is that if it’s a 1977 it was 1 of 15,000, not 1,500. The 1979 Limited edition II was 1 of 1,500. Either they have the year wrong, or it’s the Limited Edition 1, not II.
I contacted the listing owner, no response. They don’t want to hear it I guess. I got the stats from this very site.
1977 | Limited Edition I | 15,000 | 15,000 | $1,500.00 |
1978 | Cherokee 30/30 + | 9,000 | 9,000 | $384.95 |
1978 | Cherokee 22 + | 3,950 | 3,950 | $384.95 |
1978 | Antlered Game | 19,999 | 19,999 | $375.00 |
1978 | One of One Thousand + | 250 | 250 | $5,000.00 |
1979 | Limited Edition II | 1,500 | 1,500 | $1,750.00 |
Hi Scott; That is a Limited Edition 1. They made 1500 of them in 1977 to commemmorate the 5,000,000 sales mark of the 1894, the most popular sporting firearm in history. That particular gun is exceptional , having all the paperwork, boxes etc. and the big plus , it has no stress cracking in the wood finish as most do, from displaying them out of the box in bright light. I don’t know where the 15000 figure came from , but it is incorrect. Good luck on a nice piece.

Ah, well then, Tom Trolard is wrong. The list I provided showing the Limited Edition 1 as 15,000 came from his book “Winchester Commemoratives” and also from this site at: https://winchestercollector.org/winchester-commemoratives/

Yes and no. The error is in the index table. If you read the description at the bottom of the 1977 Limited Edition 1 on page 97 of Tom Trolard’s Winchester Commemoratives volume 1, it shows 1500 produced as Henry stated. It is the same for the 1979 Limited Edition II.
Sure enough. Ooops creating the list. He got it right on the detail page. I have been using the list to determine how rare a gun is. I guess I’ll have to make sure to look both places. I do have that book and Vol. II as well.
At least the list on this site could be easily changed.
Thanks!
