I am searching for 1 loaded 303 British round. It must be a WRACO headstamp with the early copper/bronze primer. These are not the easiest to find as some might think. I have an example of all of the lever action cartridges from the Henry to the 1895 except for 3. This is one of the 3.

I have come across a very beautiful HW with a #3 barrel contour. I don’t have it yet and am making an offer. It is stamped “303 BRITISH” on the side of the barrel shank and and appears original. Was the 1885 actually issued in 303 Brit?
If the rifle is in decent condition, I recommend giving it a good chase. Per my research (and documented in the article I wrote), Winchester manufactured just (21) high-wall rifles that will letter through the CFM in the 303 British cartridge. At the time I wrote the article, I had documented (3) additional rifles outside of the lette-rable range, but just this week, I documented a 4th rifle in 303 British. The rifle brings the total to (25) known.
If you can get clear pictures of the rifle you have come across, I would very much appreciated seeing them. I would also like to know what the serial number is so that I can verify it, or add it to the survey.

Chuck,
Have you checked the International Cartridge Collectors? I’m thinking that you have.
That would be where you might stumble across one.
No I haven’t but that is a good idea. We used to have a cartridge show close to my house but now because of Ca. laws it went elsewhere.
