Well it’s difficult to pin down a value, going by the pictures provided. Is it original unrefinised wood , what is the ser # what is the caliber, how is the bore, etc. , etc. I have sold ’76 s.r.c.’s for $4500.00 to $20,000.00. All I’m saying is there are a lot of variables putting a value ona gun like this without an “in hand” inspection.

Your carbine I suspect is in cal. 45-75 and given it has a Spanish meter sight was probably purchased by the Northwest Mounted Police or Canadian Militia most likely in April of 1885 for issue during the 1885 Northwest Rebellion in my opinion it would be worth anywhere from $4,500 – $9,000. A nice piece of Canadian History, Look for a NWMP cartouche in a riband on the stock. I would expect the serial # to be in the 44000 to 45000 Range. Nice piece! ! personnaly own 8, yours has a exceptionaly nicely figured stock
Your Model 1876 carbine was made in 1882 and in the known NWMP serial number range. Some of the others in that serial number range also have Alberta Provincial Police (APP) affiliation.
It is in the 1876 survey. You are very lucky, indeed.
I call myself a collector as it sounds better than hoarder

Tell us more about the rifle – family heirloom? How long had it been in the family? Was it part of a larger collection?
<img alt="" src="url=https://postimg.cc/MX4DHFdG][/url] [Image Can Not Be Found]Dad had a collection from as far back as 1948. Many have been given to specific relatives.
the rest I have . Of the remaining models an 1866 with saber and this 1876 are the most collectable . Going to sell one of them only. Depending on value. In dad’s notes he simply states the 1876 is. NWMP police carbine .
I have looked thoroughly on the carbine and see no markings as to it being NWMP .
Bore is very good. Clean , shiny, no rust, no pitt. Rifling good.
