That’s funny, Deluxe is all over the place when describing this level of checkering…you say “special”…ok, and thanks for the reference for future use.
No peep sight, simple Iron Sights, with hood.
Is your .348 a utility rifle for you???
I already know date of manufacture…do you have a Model 71 to spare brother????

I don’t think it is the least bit funny… Winchester never used the term “deluxe” for the Model 71. As cataloged, it was a “Model 71 Special” (see the attached picture).
No, I do not have a Model 71 to spare.

That site is a good source, but as it turns out, figured I’d pay my yearly fee for the abuse here…up until you replied, the plan was working like gangbusters.
JK…I decided to join, hoping to find a collector who has a model 71 they could bring themselves to part with…I’d love to find a similar rifle for my other son.
Thanks for the suggestion and I’m on there frequently.

I know there is a 71 in Little John’s auction on 12/1 and I believe there is one in the next Wards auction.I recently paid $60 a box for new factory .348.
Good score on the ammo, was pleased to pay about $80 for a box last year. Costs nearly $60 to load a box using new brass. Rattles the tin over the firing line with authority!

Mike, maybe I should have bought more? They also had some reloads for $30. I thought about these. I would pull the bullets and reload my powder and have some more brass for loading.
Anyone shoot the Hornady Leverevolution stuff? I see it is selling for about $50 less a box than what .30-30 is selling for:

I don’t know, I’m glad they didn’t have any more as three boxes plus the brass and bullets I bought from Dana should last me. I don’t see myself shooting this rifle much. I passed on some reloads I found at a gun show but the brass alone is worth close to the asking price of their reloads.

Had no idea Hornady was loading this cartridge. I really like the powder and hear good stuff about their LeveRevolution ammo.

Yes, we have at our hunt camp in PA.! We also shoot it in the 45-70! We’ve had great results with it! Heading out shortly, for this Season!

Very cool to know. It’s great that .348’s can be purchased off store shelves.
