OK, hope everyone’s rested up and gotten their worn-out old trucks repaired. Let’s see what followed you home! Jeremy P is going to need to start his own thread, he made so many nice scores he lost count. Wink

I didn’t find a gun but did find a nice bit of history. It should play nicely with my other bronzes even though the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West souvenir is something called “spelter”. Please excuse the Colt replica photobomb, it blocks out a fake Tiffany lamp.

I picked out a Sharps before the Greeley show.  Paid it off and picked it up in Cody.  I have another Win single shot that I might buy.  This one is possibly one of one and doesn’t match the letter.  Once owned by Flayderman in the early 70’s.  It is not an 1885. But it is a single shot long range target rifle.

Apparently my focus at Cody this year was the model 55

I came home with a pistol grip in 30 WCF and a a stainless steel bbl in  30 also

I did not start out to collect 55s but I really like the look and they are a bit of a challenge to find the variations.

Would you reduce the charges if I told you I also bought 2 lbs. of 4064, the Model 42 book and a box of ammo for the 1866?

OK then, these ’94’s just keep gathering at My house. Here’s 3 that got loaded in the Lincoln at Cody and drove all the way across the U. S. to Ontario with Me and Brenda. The 23″ I already had, but don’t they make a nice set of special order , non deluxe , 1894’s, especially with the magazine lengths.20260724_105321.jpg20260724_105913.jpg20260724_105923.jpg20260724_105944.jpg20260724_105952.jpg20260724_110006.jpg20260724_110013.jpg20260724_110028.jpg20260724_110139.jpg20260724_110210.jpg And the 1st. model round barrel is an improvement on the one I have.

Had planned on waiting a few weeks to let Harry enjoy the fruits of his 1890 project before enquiring as to his next endeavor. It seems Mr. Mero is already off on his next adventure with the beautiful 1894’s. Nicely played, thanks for sharing the pics!

My “next” endeavor is in full go mode, that is to assemble all the various barrel lengths of the model 1894. I have been selling off some of the “deluxe” ’94’s I’ve acquired in order to do this, I do not have unlimited funds. The 1890’s I will probably continue to collect , especially in various configuations and upgrade the ones I have, I sure would like the maple stocked one coming up on Poulin’s auction. I find the “hunt” very exciting, rather than the “having”, which is very satisfying as well. Plus some of the people I meet along the way are some of life’s more rewarding experiences.Smile

Is that Bill on horseback?  I like the piece. Although I don’t have a track record for picking bronzes. I only have one. Many.years ago at a Riverwalk gallery in San Antonio,  I had limited funds and had to choose between Bob Moline’s “Mescalero Warrior” and a Clay Dahlburg piece titled something like “The Night Sentinel” that was more expensive. Moline was known for his paintings and this was his first, maybe only bronze. I liked it and bought it. The Dahlburg piece appreciated tremendously over the years and the Moline is a boat anchor. But I still like it and keep it under a Salinas print on canvas.

Zeb-

Yes, it’s supposed to be our beloved Buffalo Bill on horseback. They were obviously mass-produced as souvenirs from c1900-1920 as they are apparently fairly common. Some are in much better condition than others, I was able to score one in remarkably good condition. It just occurred to me this little statue is valued at less than my more recently produced Frederic Remington copies. I don’t know enough about art to make wise investment choices so I just buy what I like and enjoy, much like my gun collecting philosophy. Like firearms, some bronze copies are quite good.
