Here is a true 90%+ condition .30-30 rifle with special order features that letters with Cody and was made in 1898. This is a full 26″ octagon rifle, but with a 1/2 mag. It also letters with a shotgun rubber butt, Lyman front and Lyman rear sights.
The blue is all original. The receiver has that deep Winchester blue at 90%+ on the sides and top, with the bottom showing some carry wear at the serial number. The barrel is 98% blue and very strong. Even the “small” parts, like the nosecap, upper and lower tangs, & bolt all have the majority of their original blue. The stocks are 95%+ original shiny varnish. There is a small, shallow gouge on the right stock that is less than a dime size (I included a closeup). There are a few other handling marks but nothing significant to point out. The buttplate does have one small chip at the bottom.
The rifle has a Lyman globe front, Lyman leaf rear and Lyman tang. The front globe has a metal post instead of the normal ivory bead. Rifle mechanics function well. No play in the action. Hammer holds at half and full cock. The bore is excellent – bright/shiny with strong rifling. The lever retains a good amount of bright and vivid case color on each side and inside, silvered out on the outside bottom of the lever. Just a solid high-grade rifle with a neat profile showing full octagon barrel with 1/2 mag.
Asking $3995 shipped to Lower 48. Personal checks, cashiers checks or USPS money orders. 5-day non-firing inspection period from when the rifle reaches its shipping destination.
