Do you have a reference that Malcolm made a Model No. 1 scope with the Hunting or Target scope features in a 3/4 inch tube in 6X?
Sure–probably the most common model still being made by the ’30s, though higher powers (8 & 10X) could be ordered.
As for competition with the larger makers…that was impossible for a one-man shop, with virtually no advertising budget; in fact, the last ads I’ve found before the “end” were small classifieds in the back of the Rifleman!

Thanks for the information on the No. 1 model with a 3/4 inch tube. Stroebel shows the No. 1 Hunting and No. 1 Target as having a tube diameter of .8125 inch and in 8 to 10 power. How might I be able to distinguish the No. 1 Hunting from the No. 1 Target…any ideas?
Agree on the competition-bit!

Very nice read. Made me pull the gun out of the back of the safe. All I can find on the tube is W M Malcolm in an arch. Under this is a stylized line about 1/4″ long. Under the line is 3008 and then a 2 under this.
The tube is 22 1/2″ long but the optics, front glass to rear glass, is 20 1/4″. The front glass is recessed into the tube 2 1/4″. Tube diameter is 0.75″.
No info on the mounts but there is a lot of work that went into these.
Maybe Bert can remember the owner of the scope?

Robert Warren said I’m interested. But new here and not sure how to get in contact with you.
Not possible without Bob’s email add. or phone no., which he did not provide. You just missed one on ebay.
Thanks Clarence, may not be legit then.
Try to understand posting on this forum. Why do I get a math test all the time?

Because you’re still being considered a “Guest” by the mysterious workings of this website. Ask Bert to straighten it out.
If Bob is the same Carow I used to know 40 yrs ago, he’s legit & right as rain. I need to find out how he’s lived so long.
