Looking to buy 1 box of Winchester 45-60 ammo. This is for an antique Winchester 1876. The ammo I see offered online says “not for use in original antiques”.
If you have an extra box of 45 -60 ammo you are willing to part with. please email me the particulars. [email protected]
Thanks, Richard
These can easily be made from 45-70’s if you just want shooter ammo. The 45-70 is just .215 longer. There are some other dimensions that are different but all you need is a f/l die set and some 300 grain bullets of the correct diameter for your bore. .459 most likely. Cut the 45-70’s to the correct length 1.89″.

You mean you’ve found a source of loaded ammo? That’s surprising, though I’ve heard of cases being available from time to time. Rather than go to the trouble of cutting down .45-70s, I’d buy the loaded rounds, pull the bullets (which can be reused), & reload those cases.

Good idea. I would rather have the correct head stamp. Call first. https://www.grafs.com/catalog/category/categoryId/3945

Yes there are a couple of companies making modern 45-60 ammo. Buffalo Arms, and Cimarron are just 2. I managed to find an an original box of Peterson 45-60 for sale at Liberty Tree Collectors. $145.00, but worth it to me.
