A friend of mine is looking for a Lyman #41 WR code receiver sight for an 1895 rifle,(not flat sided rifle, but scalloped).
He has a Lyman #41 WL code that came off his Winchester 1895. Will fit a Win. 1910 flat sided receiver or probably other flat sided receiver’s that are self loaders like the 1910,(.401 cal.), 03, 05, 07. It will go on an early Flat sided Winchester 1895!
He’s willing to trade or sell as whatever works.

Tell me, if you owned a nice model 1895, would you put a Lyman #41WR code receiver sight on it or would you shim a #41WL code receiver sight?
Thanks,
Anthony

Particularly if I had a “nice” Model 1895 (which I do) I would put the correct Lyman #41WR site on it (which I have on several. I would not try to shim the wrong sight on it. If I had the wrong sight, I would sell it, and put the money toward the correct sight. Might even cover the cost completely. In your case, you don’t even own the sight, your friend has it. I would put my money toward the correct sight.

Steve,
I agree whole heartedly.
Thanks for your thoughts as is what I’ve suggested to my friend.
I really thought by now that someone would have offered him one for sale by now on here to be completely honest.
