I would not get hung up about a certain year. When you do that you tend to overpay for lesser condition. Much better to search for condition at a decent price and then worry about when produced.
You are correct. I have a 1949 model 94, 1954 model 71 and a 1951 model 64 new in the box.
Both of my parents were born in 1927. I’d like a rifle I can shoot and remember them by.

John,
Those boxed rifles look pretty nice !
If you feel like putting up some more pics I’m sure others would be as interested as I am.
I had no idea that there were so many nice guns like this still boxed. You’ve got some real prizes there.

I understand, Lever Action. One of my 94’s was built the year my grandmother was born but I didn’t know that when I bought it. Quite honestly, she wouldn’t have been impressed. I did seek out a 94 built the year I was born to fill the “late pre-64” slot in my modest collection and when a 61 Magnum came along built that same year I wasn’t able to pass it up. Both are in 95% or better condition, I passed on a few 94’s that were somewhat less. In the case of the 61 I probably paid a bit too much but it was because of the condition, not in spite of it.

Lever Action, I smiled when I saw your first post because I had a pretty good idea of what you were doing. Good on you!
Years ago, while cataloging my guns, I discovered that 2 of my Winchesters had been manufactured in the year I was born. That started a quest to find an example of everything Winchester made in that year. My research turned up 29 rifles and shotguns.
I have several themes in my Winchester collections, but finding an example of each of those models which had been manufactured in a certain year turned out to be the most challenging, and took many years. I had to pay a premium for some due to the scarcity manufactured in ‘my year’, but I held out for good examples.
I still have all of them, and will pass them along to my son. Most of them are in much better condition than am I.
Good luck with your quest!

Ye it’s a lot of fun. A number of years back I set out to put together a collection of ’94’ s, one from each year of manufacture, (113 pieces). Well I did accomplish that and I have to admit I paid a little heavy for a few of the last ones, especially the early 1930’s as there were so few made those few years. They were all nice ones and only one (1932) I had restored as it was a club when I got it, and I haven’t seen another before or since. It did make an outstanding display however. The only mod. ’94 I have left from 1927 is a 16″ trapper and it’s not for sale. Good luck with Your endeavor .

If you change your mind about selling the trapper please let me know.
