I noticed this model 1894 src .30 w.c.f. on the Gunrunner auction site, if someone is looking for a decent one, that might be a little hard to find.
No horse in this race. Looks to be a decent representative, from the limited pictures posted, as a possible middle of the road piece for a beginner, or even a seasoned collector who doesn’t have one. IMO!
With the strong bluing on the barrel, and full loading tube, yet the worn finish on the receiver, I’m interested in others opinions. Just curious, yet not interested in buying, or representing a purchasers interest. Seems to be correct to me!

The most interesting thing about that SRC is the fact that it was not part of the WW I French Contract 15,100 gun order. The vast majority of the .30 caliber Model 1894 Carbines manufactured in the 630000 – 690000 serial range were sold to France.

Bert,Once again you bring up some interesting facts. I did not know that, obviously. I don’t ever remember reading or hearing about the French contract. Notice that I didn’t say, “French Connection”, as I’ve heard about that!

The French government ordered 15,100 Model 1894 .30 caliber SRCs that were delivered in 1914. The all looked like this and they had special 44A rear sights marked in Meters.

My friend Mike Carrick wrote an interesting article about these back in 2009.
