OnlineHere’s a Winchester model 62 5-Spot that was used in the early shooting galleries, that are a little harder to come by.

The link won’t load for me and I don’t see the thread when I look around…does it still work for you?
Sorry about that Jeremy,
I re did it and marked it EDITED! I left and came back and it went bad again, so I put up the Rimfire Central Forum where it’s listed. If anyone is interested and wants to get in touch with the owner, send me a PM, and I’ll try to help out!
Let me know if that works, as it did for me.

I’m in agreement with both of you gents!
Even though I don’t know about Jeremy’s house money, but I figure from the other conversations regarding Cody this past month, Ben’s suggesting Jeremy did well! Good for you!
Tony

No, that’s a good price for sure. Paint could probably be cleaned up.
Tony, can you try a direct link to my PM’s? Right-click the thread title and “copy link address”…try that? I still can’t find it on RFC but I’m probably looking at the wrong forum… I may not be finding it because it’s already gone!

OfflineI figured it out….I apparently haven’t been active enough on RFC (I’m still a fairly new account over there) and I’m blocked from marketplace posts….having said that, it seems the classifieds are littered with scammers according to other sources. If you can PM me the contents of the post I’ll look it over, but don’t worry if that seems like a pain.

This 5-SPOT Rifle is SPF!

Did you pick it up, Tony?
The seller told me it “just sold”….some red flags I found googling….RIA sold it for $3k plus the juice in 2012, then this seller was eyeing it on GI in 2022/2023 and asking everyone’s opinion on RimfireCentral. The general consensus from the membership was to pass. I emailed the seller and he was excited to share pics but said he got it in a 2024 Montrose auction. When I asked for more pics, it was “just sold.”
Buyer beware.

You are correct on all of you’re posting information. No It wasn’t me! I was wondering if Ben maybe picked it up! I don’t see the Red Flags as it is what it is, and the market will bear different values at times of sales! IMO!

OfflineTrue, but those are wide swings and a quick willingness to sell it repeatedly after a large sale price previously. I don’t mind the touched up paint personally (the touch ups are visible in the 2012 RIA photos), and the rest looks right, but it sure is a nice gun to keep going for so little….that’s what bugs me the most I guess.

If I was a betting man I’d bet we’ll see it again.

OfflineThat’s a very safe bet Mike… I rolled the dice when it I saw it was still available this morning and after seeing the serial number. I checked my records and actually owned this rifle back in 2005… traded it to a friend, Jim Henchy, he needed it to complete his amazing .22 collection. When he passed away his collection went to an unknown auction, sadly, I only found out after the fact. The messy “white” paint wasn’t on it when I previously owned it. It’s only 60 numbers different than my other 5 Spot.

OnlineBen,
Congrats on the 5-SPOT rifle, as I feel you bought it back @ a very fair price. The 5-SPOT Gallery shooting story and history was vague for many years, and with the help of the internet, we have learned some things about it’s origin and such. A picture side by side wouldn’t hurt our feelings.

Well there you go, glad you had some extra history on it…you got a good deal then!

OnlineBen,
Here’s a question for you. I find it interesting that the “5-SPOT”, Gallery rifle, doesn’t have the triangular loading port, being a known and true Gallery rifle. We both know that the gallery rifles we’re known to be of the .22 short caliber, and not all had the gallery loading port. You’re thoughts on this with you’re experience is important. IMO! Also any others!

OfflineRifle has not arrived yet for me to evaluate in person… sadly, I leave early tomorrow for Reno, so it will be another 10 days until I get to inspect it. I will send pics of my other 5 Spot’s loading port… please don’t assume too much about my knowledge, I’ve been known to regret impulsive purchases on a regular basis. I do try to make sure that I make enough of them to balance out the ledger in the long run. I am comfortable with this purchase though… cheers. Ben
