OfflineNew Price F/S – No trades. Winchester 52 Sporter model (built in 1936) in excellent condition. This rifle has a Weaver K4 scope and a Lyman receiver sight. The wood shows a half dozen minor handling marks that are the size of a common bb, or less. The metal has no marks or corrosion, with only minor edge wear at the muzzle and metal butt plate. The receiver is perfect without any evidence of ‘the crack of doom”. The trigger guard appears to have been professionally refinished. The “Sporting” stamping remains sharp. Includes are five magazines; 1 – original 5 shot, 2 – “W” 5 shot, 1 original 10 shot, and a single shot. The original leather strap with Winchester latches in excellent condition is included. Also included is the Herbert Houze book “The Winchester Model 52” (Amazon price $400+). The bore is sharp and bright and shoots clover leaf groups at 50 yards with CCI Mini Mag ammo. Priced @ $3600 plus actual shipping to your ffl.

OnlineBut it’s been drilled and tapped. I thought that was the kiss of death. Granted, they all should have been from the outset.

OfflineWhile I like that 52, as Zeb points out it has four non-factory holes for scope mounting. Furthermore, it has the wrong Lyman 48 sight. It has a 48 WJS (intended for a Model 70) and from a much later time frame. The full block 48F that ought to be on that rifle would look like this:
Any 52 Sporting rifle will certainly be in demand, but only those that have no alterations bring the highest prices.

OnlineParson, That looks like a Weaver Pivot Mount. I had one that came from Southgate as factory equipment on a 300 FN Weatherby. An awful lot of hardware crammed onto a pretty small receiver.
And a long slide WJS that reminds me of a Great Dane servicing a Chihuahua. But I digress…
I’m getting to the point of discrediting any auction in which the description uses the word “collectible” as an adjective.
