Not sure if this is allowed or not, but thought this group would appreciate this Winchester 1886 Deluxe Lightweight in 33 WCF. It’s for sale in an online auction in Virginia. https://bid.enlistedauctions.com/ui/auctions/83229/8795969

Does anyone have insights on if this is original? Or has it been reblued/restocked? Seller thinks it is all original, but I’m not too sure.

It appears refinished in the photos.  The matte on the top of the receiver was not likely done be Winchester

I would say it has been refinished. the butt stock looks like its been sanded as the metal at the upper and lower tang appears proud of the wood. The picture of the barrel in the area of the Winchester address appears to show a lot of marks that would indicate a buffing for a reblueing job. would make a good shooter IMHO.

look at the flattened tops of the screwheads on the left side of receiver. They look just like mine on my highly buffed old 94. Don

This rifle is, without a shadow of doubt, refinished.  The poor fit of the stock suggests it’s not original.  If original, it’s been sanded and the checkering added later.

This is one of those rifles that has no collector appeal but might make a good shooter.  This makes me wonder, how many are looking for a .33 WCF shooter these days?  I know many guys do shoot them, but they already have one or more.  In other words, does most everyone who wants one already have one?
