Cordier Auctions in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has a Winchester Model 1876, Third Model, Cal. 45-75 with a Factory Letter from the Cody Museum’s archive of Winchester records. I have read and am complying with the forum rules, we are not attempting to promote our business, but we would like this Winchester to go to an avid collector. Please see the link below for more information about the Winchester and for photos.
Thank you!
Can someone help me understand the magazine length on this gun. All the 76’s I ever owned had either full or half (button) magazines. The Madis Book briefly mentions special length magazines on 76’s and indicates they are rare. However, I can’t find any photos of a 76 with a magazine this length. If the magazine was specifically ordered to hold a certain number of cartridges or for some other reason be this peculiar length, seems like it would be noted in the ledger – just curious.

Nice wood but I agree the lever is troubling. Not sure but maybe someone used too much force to close the action for whatever reason. Or maybe the lever was intended for a straight stock gun. Will be interesting to see what it sells for.

Sold for $5,000. I assume that doesn’t include the internet premium of 20% and then of course there is sales tax on top of that.

Rest assured I wasn’t the “winner”.
