I have an early pat 1874 first model tool available for sale. Seldomly seen for sale. Very few examples to be seen online. Mine still has ~40% of the original gold paint present, and it’s genuinely strikingly original under the handles. The top handle does suffer from a slight bend. But overall I imagine it is still functional; I however wouldn’t for fear of cracking the casting. 

overall one of the better example’s left in existence. If you view Mavericks survey post it is the first model on the bottom left of his signature.
