OfflineI’m sure someone on here will want these, I have no idea what to ask for them without being outrageous, so if any one is in need please advise and/or make Me an offer.

OfflineHenry,
We used to see these for sale regularly, not too long ago, but like everything else, not so much. If I didn’t already have a few these, we would be sending a PM.
Bert,
I never get tired of seeing pictures of the octagon top receiver, and in the .45-2 7/8 caliber, S.S. rifle. It sure would be nice to stumble across one of these some day. How many have you seen in the wild?

Just the one in the picture I posted.
Other than the 40-70 Sharps Straight and the 40-90 Sharps Straight, all of the other Sharps cartridges are relatively hard to find. Based on my survey of the factory ledgers, this is the production total:

Here are several that I have found in the past:
Sharps 40-90 Bottle Neck (1 of just 2 made)

Various 40 Caliber Sharps ctgs.

Various 45 Caliber Sharps ctgs.

50 Caliber Sharps

OfflineBert,
You, keep stoking that fire within, Me!
I have to say in a good way though!
A Bert Hartman, M-1885 Book, to pick up and add to what John Campbell’s work included or maybe missed, is hopefully in you’re future! There’s too much knowledge being stored in the cells of “Bertamus Maximus”, (Jeff’s saying), that we get teased with, thankfully, as this great forum continues!

Chuck,
Happy 76th Birthday ahead of time, as I hope you find a nice Winchester to Celebrate you’re Birthday with. I’m sure there’s got to be at least one on you’re list!
Tony
As a matter of fact, I did find an antique 38-40 with a round barrel. I’ve never owned a 38-40 and not many round barrels.
