Greetings. I have a few Winchester Model 54’s (Standard and Sniper Match) and pre-64 Model 70 FW’s) that I would like to sell. I’m in the mid-Atlantic region and prefer selling in person.
Anyone have experience selling things on their own in person? If so, any tips or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.
Looked into consignment, but it appears my area is full of nothing more than collectors of all things plastic.
Here in Texas, we have a classified website called Texas Gun Trader. I’ve bought, sold, & traded several guns through this site, so you might see if something similar exists where you live. I just picked up an unfired 9417 yesterday from TGT.

You’ve already found the correct subform here – the Winchester Swap Meet.
But Steve, he’s already said he wants to sell person to person; always the best way, if it can be accomplished. Maybe if he can post photos (the thing I hate doing) & most importantly, tentative prices, he could arrange a meeting at some location convenient to both parties. But I still think a gun show is his best option.
Thanks for the replies and interest everyone. Also appreciate the confirmation that selling in person is the way to go. Limiting in terms of the mid-Atlantic region, but a few shows are coming up soon in VA/PA and more around the area in the new year. In no hurry and I think the difficulties in setting up an in person sale will be worth the effort.
The only thing I loath in collecting is photos. Will take a few of all 4, post them here tomorrow and go from there.
I got into a habit of always taking pictures of my guns for insurance documentation anyway, so I usually have current pics available. It’s come in handy when I decide to sell a gun and I don’t trust insurance companies to take my word for it, I always like to have documentation.
