Looking for an early type Lyman tang sight with fine knurling on stem adjuster and patent date stamped on top of base. Will not have an application code stamped on bottom of base. Will pay top, fair dollar for a nice one. Let me know by PM what you might have available. See this thread for further information:

Thanks!

I understand these are pretty scarce! There was this one listed on eBay recently:https://www.ebay.com/itm/175588229135
Highest price I’ve ever seen for one, but only one bid, so I’d hesitate to say it represents an “average” price. I have one mounted on a Winchester “thick” base, which was what Lyman used before producing his own bases.

I have various Lyman tang sights but I am not a student of them like many here. I assume the thick base version is more valuable than the thin base version?
Much more so, because it’s a Winchester base. When Lyman first began advertising his sight, he was only making the stem, adapted to fit factory bases like Winchester & Marlin (which were identical, except for length).

Interested members should consider reviewing the linked thread in my original post. There were several variations of these in a fairly short time period. A thick base version would not have the patent date stamped on top of the base.
Another one with the pat. date sold on ebay 3-4 months ago for about $400. If you’re not searching ebay, you’ll be waiting a long time.

It is very easy to walk through a gun show and not find one.
