What is the serial number? I ask, because I cannot think of any receiver mounted scope base for a 1920 1890 – but you know what they say about age and memory!
Back in that day and time, the popular scopes that come to my mind were Winchester, Stevens, and Malcolm. Fecker came along in the mid-20s. Lyman bought out Winchester in late 1928, and then Stevens in 1929. Then along came Unertl. They used mainly barrel mounted bases. Immediately thereafter a host of companies got in the scope and mount business in the mid-thirties.
Pictures…or a clear description of the drilled holes with distance between centers might be the way to help put you on the right track.

Thanks for the Info James.
After reading your reply I have to assume this rifle was D&T at some point in time after the production of the rifle. I’m working away from home until next weekend when I can get some specifics on screw size and spacing. It’s a 3 hole mount and that’s about all I can say for now. I’m guessing the mount probably housed a 3/4″ tube.

Thanks guy’s !
I believe I’m on the right track here. I’ve kind of wanted a scoped 90 for a bit but surely wasn’t going to drill any of mine. This one popped up at the right price so here we are……… Scoped shooter grade 90, should be fun !
Rusty, I’m assuming the front of the base is cut down because it extends beyond the front of the receiver. This would leave the 2 rear mounting holes and the “rear” forward one ?

Thanks for the pics James!
After looking at the hole spacing on the ranger mount, I am reasonably sure the Weaver N5 would be the one originally mounted on the rifle. The Ranger mount appears to have equidistant spacing between the holes and what I have appears to be what Rusty implied. The Weaver mount only utilizing three of the four holes with the very front one being eliminated. With the massive recoil of the 22LR cartridge I’m not sure if three screws will withstand the punishment.

No sweat! When you mentioned 3 screws, it was the only side mount I’m familiar with that had them. Glad to know Rusty helped you figure it out.
