SOLD.
Listed is my very nice Winchester Model 62A with serial number 854495B marked on the bottom of the receiver/barrel assembly and 854495 on the lower tang. According to Ned Schwing’s book, this is one of about 362 M62A “parts clean up guns” that were made from left over M1890 receivers in the early 1950’s. This one is marked “53” on the bottom of the barrel and is close to one of the last ones made using those M1890 receivers.
Otherwise, it’s a standard M62A pump rifle for .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle cartridges, 23 inch round barrel, standard front and rear sights and hard rubber butt plate.
It has about 97% barrel blue, 90% mag tube blue with blue loss from slide, 85% receiver, top and bottom tang and trigger guard blue. Has a very small spot of blue wear on the trigger guard and a couple very subtle spots here and there on the gun, nothing serious. Blue on action bar and slide cover thin. About 95% original wood finish and has the late style fore end. Perfect bore. Overall, a high condition original 62A.
If you are looking to acquire all the variations of the Model 62/62A, this would be a good candidate for the parts cleanup variety. There has been discussions on these 62A’s on this web site and also RimfireCentral.com.
Please ask if you have any questions or want more pictures.
Reduced to $750.00 plus shipping and insurance to your FFL dealer or C&R who will accept shipment directly from me. I will include a copy of my driver’s license with all the details of the sale.
Make note of the reduced price and if you would like to see more pictures and a discussion on the wood of this gun, go to the Winchester .22 Rim Fire Section.
