For sale is a 1931 Winchester Model 52 .22 target rifle with what appears to be a post WWII Fajen stock. Serial number: 18714. Stock and barrel in remarkable good condition, has original “ladder” rear sight.
Not sure how to post photos, so please email: [email protected] and I will send directly.
Asking $900.00

A word of well-intentioned advice: check SOLD prices on GunBroker. Any 52 with a non-original stock (except by the best custom stockers) is not viewed favorably by most collectors.
Thank you and I most certainly will! I just found out the stock is not original, the rifle has been in my family since before I was born and that’s the stock that has always been on it.

Can you give any advice as to it’s value? I looked on Gun Broker and couldn’t find any Model 52’s with aftermarket stocks.
Thanks!
Hi Larry,
I just sent you an email. If you can send me some pictures I can help you with a value for your Model 52.
Also, send a close-up picture of the safety tab mount on the receiver (looking down from the top). These receivers are prone to cracking which will also reduce the value of the rifle.

Larry,
I got them and responded, thanks.
You are correct, it does not have the original stock. From your close-up photo it does not appear to have a crack at the safety lug (which is good news).
It is a “shooter grade” rifle and $400-$500 (max) is about what it would bring on Gunbroker. Sorry, I know you probably thought it was worth a bit more.
Here are some recent comparable prices for you, these rifles have the correct stocks on them –

I hate selling guns, they begin to feel like family after awhile. OTOH I sold several guns a few years back to “refocus” my collecting efforts and will do so again soon. So many guns, so little funds.
