Hello to all!
It’s been awhile since I last posted here though I occasionally dropped by to read some of the threads and see what some old friends are up to. I’ve been agonizing this decision for the last couple years but I think it’s now time to offer up what remains of my collection. As before my hope is that they’ll find a new caretaker among a fellow member that has the same passion about these old guns we all share.
In the last several months I’ve researched sales on similar specimens and spent allot of time paging thru Larry Shennum’s book of Winchester values, my copy is a couple years old but I think it’s still relevant, and also, Bert Hartman and his invaluable expertise over the years. Additionally, each rifle pictured below has been recently appraised by a national auction house. The final result is the estimated value range I’ve place on each which I believe is the current market value.
This is a very difficult process, even now as I write this I’m torn in both directions to continue with this or not!!!….Well here goes…There’s one caveat… Winchester Model 1886 s/n22376 38/56 w/ Plain Pistol Grip. When I bought this rilfe the owner said he snapped off the little set trigger screw while packaging it, when I got in hand I discovered that most of the set trigger mechanism was missing. I’ve since purchased a period set of parts but as of this writing have not installed them.
Email or PM me with any questions and/or want more details/info on a particular rifle.

Here’s additional data for each rifle….
This is a copy of the data from either the "Yellow" sheet, the BBHC letter or the emailed conformation from Jessie I have for each of the 94’s….

I hope this clears things up.
Warm regards to all,

Marty, I am wondering the same thing Bert mentioned…maybe a minor point to you, but the dates of Manufacture that you are showing for the ’94’s at least, are not something that you got from Cody and any letter that one would get from Cody will not verify the DOM’s you are showing for those rifles. Eg….the ’94 with serial # 70126 has a DOM of 1899 according to the polishing room records, not 1896. Peter
Peter, Bert and others….
When I closed my studio/offices a couple yrs. ago I boxed all my files and stored them in my home’s basement, when Hurricane Sandy came to visit it was a mad scramble to get things to higher ground and most of my Winchester records got shoved into piles of bxs. I spent last night & this morning and found a good bit of it and copied what BBHC data I have on the 94’s to my post of Winchester’s above.
I hope this’ll clear this up better,
Marty
I just received another value estimate on my collection, and this one came in generally @ 1/3 LESS than the one I used with the postings above. So as I suspected, I think these auction houses pad their values to entice collectors to sell with them. That being said I’m open to offers on what remains of my collection.
Marty
