I probably should add that, if I recall correctly, the difference in dimension is about the diameter of one of the screws. In other words, not much difference. If you get desperate, buy a similar looking Krag sight and elongate one of the sight attaching screws hole so it would go on your barrel. I was once told that works, but have no experience of that myself. Old 1895 SRC barrel sights (and original top wood) are very scarce. No idea where the ones pulled off ever went, but there are plenty of bare SRC barrels without rear sights! Tim

Roger, of course you are correct. However in my opinion, should he even find ONE available, he should also buy a lottery ticket and also get what he can find. I think the only variation was in the visible portions–i.e. the steps of the frame and the numbers on the staff. The base with screw holes should be the same. If anyone ever figures where all those that were removed ever went-it surely would help in returning many SRCs to their original configurations! Tim

I have 3 of the Krag Jorgensen sights. The center of the screw holes measures 2.335″, as best as I can measure. I have two I would sell, the other is off my 1885 22 Musket and not for sale. The center sight is the Musket sight. The top sight has front and rear screws and shows normal age in very good original condition. The bottom sight only has the front screw. It has a nice ‘black’ finish, but shows no signs of polishing or buffing. I am not sure if these will work on a carbine, but thought it might help. PM me if you are interested. I am looking for a fair offer. RDB
