I haven’t had one call from a member, on either of these Winchesters, that tells Me there is either no interest, they’re too expensive, or being in Canada just to much hassle.

Henry,
I suspect it is the hassle of them being in Canada. If you could get them “south of the border” without them being molested or hassled by the Gendarmes and/or U.S. Border Patrol, I suspect that the interest in them might increase a bit.

There is no hassle, I usually send them by Borderview Firearms importer/exporter, or I deliver .
Hi Henry,
Are your prices in U.S. dollars or Canadian? If in U.S. dollars, the prices seem a little high for those calibers. The 40-60 in the 1876 and the 40-82 in the 1886 aren’t the most desirable calibers to collectors in those models. Very nice guns regardless, but just a bit high on prices due to the lack of caliber popularity. But this is just my opinion and observation. Check out Frontier Guns on Gunsinternational.com. This guy has been selling some anazing guns at reasonable prices. Prices are not cheap by any means, but beautiful high-end guns. Here are just a few examples.

Hi Don’ I did see those on G.I. and I did kind of use them for a value comparison, and I didn’t feel they compared to the one s I’m offering. Again I may think they are worth more just because they are mine, but the ’76 does not have near the remaining finish of Mine and the ’86 is a later, blued, non antique piece.

I’ll be completely honest with you. The 1876 is a nice rifle, but the case colored ones will bring more. The 1886 is nice, but not quite where it needs to be to justify an exceptional price.
I would drop your asking prices by a third. That will generate interest, if not an immediate sale. Or, you might drop your asking price by 25% and be prepared to settle in the 2/3 range of your current asking prices.

Henry – I have sold several Winchesters to guys in Canada and have never had a problem – just send the gun to the importer identified by the buyer and they take care of it. I have never bought a gun from someone in Canada but I have talked to guys that have and the importer transaction has been flawless. It does take a little longer but to get something you want, an extra bit of time is worth it. Nobody should be scared of the Canadian importer process. Your 76 is a very nice gun – you don’t find an original and correct 76 with condition very often these days as they are being tucked away by collectors. The Model 1876 has become very attractive to buyers over the last few years as they are finding how scarce nice one’s are. There is night & day difference between your gun and the 76 for sale at Frontier here in Alaska and your gun is well worth the addditional asking price – in my opinion – but I prefer quality over quantity. You gave WACA members a shot at it and if you have no interest among them it is time to expand your horizons.

Keep in mind, that 1886 is chambered in the desireable 45-90 and also an extra light. Don’t see very many if those around.
