I plan to have the 1873 Winchester “1 of 1000” #40631 for viewing and sale at the Nov. 15 & 16 Tulsa Arms Show.  It will be located in the lower level Row 4 Island A one table back from the end cap.  It will be in a wooden display case and easy to see.  Please come by and take a look and/or take it home with you.

What a spectacular rifle.  Does anyone have any idea how many of the 1/1000 rifles exist today or how many are accounted for?  Did Winchester also have a designations for 1/100?

Thank you,

JDG

Curmudgeon, Of the 720,000 1873’s made 132 were 1 of 1000’s and 8 were 1 of 100’s. It has been said, more exist today than Winchester made. Most of the ones Winchester made survived. If restored to new condition the leftover barrels and related parts were assembled to make another of the same serial number. Then you have fake ones with no original parts but a 1 of 1000 serial number, and fantasy guns made up but not serial numbered to a 1 of 1000.

 A provenance is important if considering a 1 of 1000 purchase. T/R
