Picked up a 1886 in .40-82 today with what I believe is an original scope and mounting.  

This is a bit out of my ‘baileywick’ and could use some input.  Can’t find anything online regarding specifics.

Have you contacted the CFM records office yet (for a factory letter)?  If the Malcom telescope is original to the rifle, it will be documented in the factory ledger records and be listed on the factory letter.
