Hello,

I have a 92′ in 32-20 and I’d like to add a marbles tang sight.  I bought a W2 model from an ad that claimed it would work on a 92′, but since then I’ve seen numerous posts on other forums that claim the W1 is the correct model.

They look the same to me, does anyone know what the actual differences are? And can I use the W1 model or should I sell it and start looking for a W2?

Thanks for any info!

The W2 is the correct sight for the Model 1892. The W1 sight was made for the Model 1894 in 25-35 WCF, 30 WCF, and 32 WS.

Thanks Bert.

I switched the models in my first paragraph. I bought the W1.

As long as I have the W1 could I still use it? Do you know what the actual differences are, other than the height?

Would I be limited to a short range or not short enough? Or is the hole spacing different?

The hole spacing is the same for all of the Winchester lever-action models. The only difference there can be between a W1 and a W2 sight is the stem height (elevation range).

Although this is for modern production sights, the differences between Model 1892 and 1894 are shown in the height specs.  http://www.marblearms.com/standard-peep-tang-sight.html
