This globe sight has no tension whatsoever. One would think that tightening the screw on the left side of the sight would increase tension. But it has no effect, any attempt to further tighten is unlikely to tighten but rather lead to damage to the screw head. Any suggestions? Or best to just let sleeping dogs lie, except it’s doubtful the rifle left the factory this loose.

OfflineThat is a Lyman #5 combination front sight and you can normally tighten the friction by tightening the screw. Have you tried both screws? Remove the screw and inspect it. The pin end of the screw could of been broken off. The beach sight has a spring in the base that kept it in place.

I’ll have to have a look over the weekend. I didn’t realize there was a screw on the other side as well, but it makes sense.

I am a late “Boomer” and a byproduct of the Cold War but still young at heart, just not in the mirror.
