Winchester Carbine Rifle Ladder Folding Rear Peep Sight 1873 1876 1892 1894 1886 | eBay
Have a look at this one. Looks to be a custom made piece stuck over the original slider. Not a bad job really
A man can never have too many WINCHESTERS...
Chris,
That looks like a modern repo with the homemade slider.

No, it isn’t, but as with the U.S. Army’s 1884 Buffington rear sight, & M1905 Springfield sight, & others of similar design, the optical advantage of a peep is diminished the further it’s placed from the shooter’s eye. A conventional open rear sight (which the military traditionally favored) combined with a peep is an ineffective compromise.

I did think it had some artificial ageing to it. There was a guy down here making repos also, they look terrible though whereas this doesn’t look half bad

Any sight that has mismatched parts is half bad. Even if you find the part, it has to match. T/R
I agree with Bob. First of all, the screw in the base which is supposed to center the leaf, is much smaller than an original Winchester. The elevator slide is also much thicker (even without the added peep hole fixture) than the slide on an original sight. Personally, I think it’s an aged Uberti reproduction carbine sight.
