Rear sight, Winchester model 70, .220 Swift, made in 1936

I just bought this rifle. The housing has 4 holes drilled in it, just in front of the bolt handle on the right side. Any idea what there were for, and what might fit them? How can I add picture?

If you are logged in as a guest, you can only post pictures by uploading them to a third party site like photo bucket, and posting the link here, or by e-mailing them to a member who can post them for you. Of course if you join WACA and log-in as a member you can post pictures to your heart’s content!!!!
