Im looking for a folding rear sight for my 1886. It came with a folding ladder type sight but I now run a tang sight, and they interfere with each other. So im looking for a period correct folding rear sight. I saw a few on ebay but they are pretty pricey since I live in Canada. The exchange is rough, but id be willing to pay for  a nice one.

For the time being I got one off a 2011 marlin, it works really nice, and it folds but im sure WInchester never offered this type of sight. It sounds dumb but I like my rifles to be period correct.

Your choices come down to a Winchester Express sight or a Lyman #6, introduced in 1891.  The Express sights are often found with one of the leaves broken, so if you can find one of those, the price shouldn’t be too bad.

Never seen that tang sight–what is it?

That is not a Lyman tang sight. That lever is a custom made lever as well.

I also made the lever myself, the original lever wasn’t good enough for me, too small. I bought a chiappa lever and chopped it up, and got the welder out.

There is a flat top sporting sight, I think it is a 22 C?  It is a 22 for sure. This may be short enough.

Il look into the sights but from what I can see in the books, win Hester usually had the Lyman #6 two leaf sight I think. There is one or two on ebay now. And one that has one folding piece.

Id really like a #6 but no one wants to ship to Canada. Especially not with the virus.

Not because of the virus…though there’s no shortage of idiocy resulting from that!  It’s because ebay will not allow sellers to list ANY gun part unless they check the box that says “no international sales.”  So just ask the seller if he’ll ship to Canada; if he says “no,” you know he’s a FAH, because I’ve shipped various gun accessories to Canada & Europe & even one Lyman Alaskan scope to Japan, after the bidder asked me to do so!  If I had a #6, I’d be glad to send it to you.

I already ordered multiple gun parts from the states and most dont care to ship over here, sadly every time I really want something they usually refuse. I messaged a seller last week for one of the sights and he said he would love to ship to me but due to the virus ebay has cut international sales. So he asked for my email, I sen tit to him and never heard from him since 🙁

Since it is just a part, do you know someone across the boarder that will accept it for you?
