I recently acquired a Winchester 1894 sporting rifle. Serial number 563530. 30 WCF. Round barrel full mag. Crescent butt. Lyman tang peep. Three leaf rear barrel sight. The front sight is where my question lands… I’ve never seen one like it. The bead and center post are one solid piece of metal. I’m not sure if it’s silver or platinum but it’s silver in color. I don’t know if this was a factory option or not but I can’t seem to identify it?
And one of the rear sight just for fun. Not sure if it’s correct but the patina matches and it’s been there for a long time. It’s leaves are marked “50”, “1”, and “2”.
Joel,
That originally was a #21 front sight that someone took a file to. The insert is German silver or nickel silver.
Here some posts about the 21 including pictures of a 21 that was filed on similar to yours.
