Larry what is the approximate value of a 103 sight? Mine is mounted on the bolt not the tang.
The “approximate value” can’t really be applied to yours, because it is so atypical. It’s definitely much rarer than typical 103s, but I suspect the numbers of potential buyers looking for one is not great, as they are for conventional 103s, which sell on ebay for $300-400; you can easily check on this yourself. Best way to sell it on ebay is with a high reserve, except now ebay imposes a stiff extra charge for listing with a reserve! (However, if you own a Newton, do you really want to separate them?)

Larry, Are you sure those aren’t Las Vegas Gun Show prices? Check out these SOLD ebay prices:
Note the one marked “S” for M85s–they generally bring more than any others.

I see only one M103 sight and it is not for a lever gun. These sights are more expensive for levers and need to have the proper codes. Mine is correctly coded for a M1894 in 38-55 and is on my 1916 oct. bbl. M1894 in 38-55. The sight came out in 1916. I added the sight several years ago and it was over $700. It is minty and matches my M1894. Maybe they have gone down in value, but a recent search for one for a lever gun brought no results. They certainly are not common, especially for Winchester lever guns. I have yet to shoot this rifle as I am very wary about shooting my high condition guns. Big Larry

I do have a Newton. It is a family gun that I have no interest in selling. I have collected items for this gun over the last 30 years. I actually have two bolt peep sights. I recently have been cataloging all my stuff in the safe. I bought this site from one of the most prominent Newton collectors over 20 years ago for $300.

Not a 103–merely a 1A, with special application codes for certain bolt-actions, including Newtons. Had one of these once on a sporterized Springfield, & liked it a lot.
