Without seeing it I would say $300 – $350

Larry,
Why take the sight off? Does it letter with, or without the sight? If it was installed after the fact, what does the finish look like under the sight base in comparison to the rest of the upper tang (an indicator as to how long it has been on the rifle)?

Bert, the case color under it is like minty. The tangs upper and lower have most of the case color.
I won an auction for a very early, pre 1900, Winchester rear tang sight. The one that looks like a long range Vernier but does not have the elevation screw like the sight on my M1885.
The Lyman looks too new to be original. It is marked with an “N” with serifs underneath.
It just does not look right to me. The longer Winchester tang and the Lyman #5 or Beaches front sight looks good. To me anyway.
I submitted my $70 for a letter a few days ago.
BTW, I did get the original mounting screws so they will go with the Lyman #1 when and if I sell it.
Now, to find some sealed 1890 period original ammo in 40-65.
This rifle was bought a year or so ago from Mr. Merz. Not cheap, and is a very pretty rifle. Thanks Bert. Big Larry
Larry,
That sight would be the graduated peep. I would wait on selling the other sight until you get the letter or you might be buying it back.

Thanks Bob. I just checked my big sight book. It is a M36-A, Winchester, Long Range Graduated peep sight with the thin base.
I will wait for the letter, but already have installed that sight on my M1886. The Lyman 1-A appears anemic compared to the Winchester.
Letter should take a month? Thanks again. Big Larry
Larry.
A month is what I recall letters taking, I don’t know now what they are running now.
