When using iron sights my eyes are really preferring a tang sight these days. I’ve been mounting more tang sights on several lever rifles. Leaving the barrel sight in place clutters my sighting plane. I am looking for a few filler blanks or the two-leaf folding sights that would fold flat. I don’t want anything new as I want whatever I put there to match as much as possible (i.e. doesn’t stand out like a new 100% blued item would). Thanks!
Lyman #6 would look best, but if you need several, the cost is going to mount up fast, on top of which they aren’t that easy to find. I doubt that finding old slot fillers will be a whole lot easier. I’ve taken a new one, stripped the blue, then re-blued it with Brownell’s Oxpho-Blue, which is easy to rub down with steel wool to a color that best matches the brl blue.

Steve-
Some gunsmiths contour a sight blank to the barrel and finish it to match. Brownells (I think, therefore my foot is enroute to my mouth) has an alternative sight blank that is a bit smaller than the standard Marble offering and it looks more at home on the vintage Winchesters. I’ll check my parts box if you don’t find it. I keep a recent production Marble sight (or two) in there as well.

Here’s what appears to be a copy of a #6. Maybe you can get it for less. I think a Lyman will be considerably more.

Thanks for the lead. I had contemplated this one but couldn’t quite make sense of it:
