I’m looking for a picture of the Special Flat screwdriver that came with the A5 sight for the clamping screws (thumbscrews).

Anyone have a pic of one?

Page 221 in John Campbell’s Single Shot book, Vol 2, is the only photo I’ve seen.  It’s a flat, rectangular, piece of steel with blades on either end & a hole near the smaller blade, roughly 1″ by 3″ I’m guessing from photo.  Do you think you’ve found one?

No, I just know one was issued with every A5 scope sold in WWI to the Marines and Army and I just don’t know if I have ever seen one.

Clarence, actually I need to pick your bain on the Steven’s scopes.   Can you email me at [email protected].  We used to talk about this stuff back about 2016ish over on the jouster forum.

I need your knowledge.  🙂

Probably not; not only were they easily lost of course, but unless the steel was hardened, I suspect the blades would easily twist.  They were enclosed in the boxes of every scope sold, but the one in Campbell’s book is the only one I’ve ever seen.
