Regarding authenticity, was the front sight on the above referenced rifle dovetailed onto the barrel? Believe the front sight for a Model 94  “Trapper”  with a fifteen inch barrel (and other trappers) if authentic, was forged onto the barrel? The question precipitated by the difference in one being a Model 94 Trapper and one being a Model 1892 Special Short Rifle, button magazine.

The front sight for the above mentioned Special Short Rifle also has a small screw on the top right hand side.

Thank-you.

Hello Richard,

If it is a “rifle” the front sight would have been dovetailed regardless of barrel length or style.  What is the SN of the 1892?  Makes a difference for the screw.

1912 is within the correct time frame when the set screw was included on the 21C front sight.

Thanks Richard.

Yes the front sight would definitely have the small set screw on the right side.
