Winchester 42 magazine tube plug

I recently picked up a model 42 skeet that was plugged for waterfowl. When I removed the plug this morning I pulled out what looks like a factory marked/built plug. My question to those who are in the know is, did Winchester make a factory plug for the 42? And if so, were all new 42s supplied with the plug or was it an item that needed to be requested?

I know very little about the Model 42 but I have and have seen Winchester magazine plugs. I think yours is real.

Concur. The ones I’ve seen have been in Model 12 guns, a 12 and a 16, but the markings look similar.
