When did Winchester 1897 buttstocks change from the rounded version to the more squared off version?

I am not sure what its called but I’m talking about the area right behind the wrist area. The rounded versions kind of look like a knuckle.

Winchester made the change from the older “round knob” style pistol grip butt stock to the “semi-pistol grip” stocks in January 1907 (approximately mid-way through the “D” series production).  The old style Round Knob butt stock was still offered on special order through the year 1913 when it was permanently discontinued.  I myself much prefer the old Round Knob stocks.

Thank you. I prefer the round style also. One of the latest 97 takedowns I picked up has an after market stock on it and I want to replace it with an original so I was curious when the change was made. The wrist on this one is much thicker than the wrist on some of my other 97s.
