I inherited my late husband’s gun collection. On the collection I have a Winchester model 1200 serial number 450625. Winchester Nix advised that he could assist but the Email was out of order.
As of today my email has been restored.
Heather please send the following photos to [email protected] when you can: Overall Left and Right view, Serial Number (with the breech closer) and the underside of the receiver, Left Stock, Butt plate or recoil pad, Left receiver, Forearm and Barrel Address, close up Barrel Address (check both sides of the barrel in 1969), Front sight) any other sight – mid barrel or rear sight), Pistol Grip Cap, Left side of receiver, and Right side of receiver (Breech closed).
If you can’t take them all please do what you can.
I have a winchester 1200 12guage. Serial number L900364. Can you tell what year it was manufactured?

The answer is YES I CAN. However you did not send me photos so I cannot add to my database. Hello. I have a Winchester Defender 12ga with serial number L2086976. Can anyone tell me if this is a 1200 or 1300? And the date of manufacture, if possible? Thanks! The answer is Yes I can, but I need photos.
I can give you the year of manufacture to within about 800 serial numbers for the Models 1200 and 1400, and about 2000 serial numbers for the Model 1300 because there were so many nade. But without adding to my database there is no incentive to just provide the information.
If I have an email address I present the information as a letter setting out why I consider the year of manufacture and this takes time. See the attached letter “JerryWebster-Springfield-Nebraska-Model 1200 # 280683” In review I see there is an obvious mistake – I typed 1997 manufacture instead of 1967, but this is obvious from the text and attachnent.

In my last post (27) I said:

I could not upload the letter as it was in pdf. It is now two pages as a JPG.

I just bought this rather rough 1200 Riot, serial number L1369253.
I haven’t seen one in NZ before. I’m keen to find out its DOB. Photos to come when I can work out how to attach and send.

Hi Graemia, Yes I can help you with that. As it happens Winchester used up old stock to supply 20 inch barrels instead of 18 inch barrels but only in Australia and New Zealand. Yes, the barrel is indeed 20″ long. The barrel address in the photos is New Haven Conn USA and the serial number is L1269253 as shown in the photo. I read it wrong earlier.
