I have a Model 12 that has Model of 1912 stamped on the barrel.  When did they change over to Model 12 stamped on the barrel?

It was late in the year 1919 when Winchester shortened the model designation from “1912” to “12”.  The serial number on your Model 1912 will tell us specifically when it was manufactured.

Thanks.  Mine was made in 1918.  My Model of 1912 barrel was cut for a poly choke (only thing uglier is a Cutts Compensator).  Just won an auction that has all the parts less a receiver.  That barrel says Model 12 on it. Guess I will have some extra parts, these will be for sale watch the For Sale Board.  Thinking of cutting the original barrel to 18 inches, since it is not good for anything else.
