Hello. I have a very nice model 12 , 12 gauge with a 20″ barrel mfg in 1931. It has checking on the stock. I don’t think it’s a riot gun, too short for trap. If anybody has a clue, it would be appreciated. Thank  you

A factory original Model 12 with a 20-inch barrel is either a Riot Gun or a Trench Gun.  The standard grade 12-ga guns, and the higher grade guns were manufactured with 26-inch or longer barrels.  You did not mention what the choke marking is on the left side of the barrel ?  Can you post a clear picture of the factory stamped markings on the barrel?

Thank you Bert for responding.  The choke is Full. I spent 45 minutes trying to post a picture with no luck. Clicking on the insert/edit image icon gets me  a box that asks for source,  description, and size, do that and nothing happens.  Shouldn’t have bought a smartphone either.Cry  Thanks, Bob

If the barrel is 20″ and it says full it has been cut down. As a guest you can not add pictures directly.  Someone can tell you how, just not me.

As Chuck mentioned, the barrel has been chopped (cut down). The FULL choke marking indicates it originally had a 30″ or 32″ barrel.
