I have a question about the pins that hold the top rail on the the post. What did they use for a pin ? Where they solid pins or a small diameter roll pin?

All the vent rib pins in my Model 12’s appear to be solid pins not “rolled” pins.  My earliest dates to 1928 the latest 1954.  RDB
