Ok I know the cardinal rule is not to refinish. Gun in question is a field grade 12 gauge. Butt plate is not original. Bluing is 40 to 50%. Gun is functional and solid. Oh it has a adjustable choke that I assume is not original. Stock has been refinished at some point. Serial number puts it as a 1922 manufacture date. Reblue, Cerrakote, or leave it. Gun might see some field use in the future.

Just trying to protect from the elements.
A quick wipe down with light gun oil will do that.
Personally, I would not spend the $$$ to refinish a gun that is worth less than what the cost to refinish it would be.

If I wanted a nicer looking Model 12 I would buy another. Since this gun is already messed up and if it doesn’t have family provenance you can do what you wish. Leave it alone or mess it up more.
I have my Dad’s 1955 Browning A5. He had Browning refinish the entire gun in the 1980’s. Looks nice but they put a newer butt plate on it that is not period correct. He ringed the barrel by continuing to shoot steel shot through the modified barrel. I don’t plan to fix anything. It is what it is.
