Was watching this one and am curious about opinions here. Sorta has that “too good to be true” look to it.
Winchester Model 97 U.S. riot shotgun, 12 gauge, 21” barrel with ventilated metal barrel handguard and bayonet lug, military finish, flaming bomb proofs on barrel and receiver, U.S. marking on left side of receiver, wood stocks, green woven sling, S/N E 921625; good to very good condition with a very good bore, crisp action good markings; good wood with crossed cannons and “W.B.” cartouches on left side of butt stock plus rare U.S.M.C. in small stamped letters on bottom of semi-pistol grip (C&R).

I kind of doubt the originality of the USMC markings.Should have a unmarked handguard with 6 rows of holes.
Sling is not period correct. As Bert says, we need pictures. This appears to be an early gun and most desirable if correct.
What is the asking price? Big Larry
Larry, its at Little John’s Auction. No sale price yet. The only interesting auction house near me (in Southern California).

Thanks. I didn’t bid. It went for $2400.

That’s what I paid for the one I pictured. It is 99% and 100% correct. Yes, I got a deal, but it was from a friend who tried to give it to me for free. I gave him what he paid for it several years ago.
There are just too many buggered up US shotguns out there. You have to know what you are doing when making a purchase. Big Larry
