Everyone, New to your organization and will only post this one time. This is more of FYI than anything.
I am a police chief for a small department in Tennessee. Through the DOD we can request equipment for Law Enforcement use. My department was in need of shotguns and made a request. We were told that another department had Remington 870s available and we could have them transferred to us. Understand for those that do not know, weapons are only loaned to the department never available for resale or disposal by the agency.
We pick up the “Remingtons” and get 1942 vintage, flaming bomb stamped Model 12s with the heat shield and bayonet lug. We can’t use them but if we turn them in the military will destroy them. The same with Military 1911s we have in stock.
This is a shame as these are in great shape and would be a great addition to anyone’s collection. We will hold them in the armory and hope that maybe the President will allow them to be transferred to CMP for sale. I would hate to see these shotguns destroyed.
If your organization has any political clout this is the next congressional firearms for CMP that needs to be addressed. The agency we picked them up from had 1911s in the original cardboard boxes.
It would be nice to preserve these fine weapons. As long as I’m chief they will not be returned to the DOD voluntarily.
